From the A1 motorway (Autosole), coming both from the south (i.e. from Florence, Roma, Pisa...) or from the north (i.e. Milano, Bologna, etc.) exit at Barberino di Mugello. Follow the signs for San Piero a Sieve-Borgo San Lorenzo. After La Torre (on your left there is a very conspicuous for the "Teatro dei Medici" restaurant) you will find the crossroads for Scarperia and the sign to Luco di Mugello". Turn right and again right and follow the signs for Luco di Mugello, which is some 4 km away. At Luco, the road continues to the right for Borgo San Lorenzo instead take to the left to the village centre (there is a sign pointing to “Grezzano”). Some 100 metres further, at the next crossroads there are signs to San Giorgio and to us, "AGRITURISMO SANVITALE". Proceed this way, and only leave the road when you see our sign, after about 2.5 km half of which are asphalt road, and the rest are dirt road. You will find yourselves landing in our very yard! From Florence you can also reach Mugello taking one of two main roads, with one panoramic alterative route. In both cases, let’s assume Piazza della Libertà in Florence as a starting point. Piazza della Libertà is a main crossroads on the ring boulevards (viali di circonvallazione). From here, you may: 1) follow the via Bolognese (s.s. 65) passing through Pratolino, Vaglia and San Piero a Sieve. From San Piero proceed as indicated above. 2) if you choose the via Faentina (s.s. 302) instead you will pass Pian di Mugnone, Le Caldine, L’Olmo, Polcanto and Borgo San Lorenzo. From here, follow the signs Luco di Mugello which is 7 km away. From Luco continue as indicated above. 3) again from Piazza della Libertà, you can follow the signs to Fiesole (which is well worth a visit), continue along the scenic route and join the via Faentina (s.s. 302) at L’Olmo. From here the route will be the same as detailed in the previous entry. For those who wish to visit Florence without getting caught in the traffic, Borgo San Lorenzo (7 km away from Agriturismo Sanvitale) has a train station along the Faentina railway line, with trains connecting the Mugello valley with the two stations S.M. Novella and Campo di Marte in Florence. There is also a frequent bus service from Borgo San Lorenzo to the centre of Florence (approximately one hour’s drive). We can provide the timetables. Our farming duties permitting, we shall be pleased to drive you to and from the station at Borgo San Lorenzo. |
